QuarkXpress 10 Review
QuarkXPress is the new version released by Quark for its graphic design and page layout software and it includes more than 50 new features and timesavers, Retina display support and Quark's new Xenon Graphics Engine. Quark is describing the release as "new inside and out" and by launching this version it has finally migrated its software to Apple's Cocoa frameworks which was earlier based on Carbon, which is a programming interface that enables the applications run on modern Macs that used to ran on the obsolete Mac OS 8 and 9 platforms. At the same time, Mac developers have now largely abandoned this programming interface because it does not support various modern features, so they made it obsolete. By moving on to Cocoa, Quark had to rewrite large amounts of this legacy code. With Quark moving to Cocoa it means QuarkXPress 10 offers better performance and enables to leverage the latest OS X features including the MacBook Pro's Retina display and also promised that this version will also support Mavericks. It has also implemented the new Xenon Graphics Engine in QuarkXPress 10 which allows better rendering of files such as Photoshop files, PDFs, and TIFFs, with an Adaptive Resolution feature to display the best possible onscreen resolution. As per Quark, the new graphics engine supports Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX), multi-core, multi-processor, SSE3, and multi-threading. It also has a new look with palette enhancements and has the ability to be used in a measurements palette, new navigation elements and full screen mode and gives more consistent design. It also has the boxes and lines around an object which can be hidden so as not to interfere with the design and it also offers better integration with Photoshop including preservation of layers and non-destructive editing. It also redefined a new way to manipulate the clipping paths. It also has a QR code create within it and supports East Asian typography perfectly. It has the ability to import hyperlinks and pictures from Microsoft Word, a new PDF Pass-Through Transparency feature, layers enhancements, a print preview, tool enhancements and the option to highlight missing fonts which shows its workflow improvements.
QuarkXpress also continues support for out of the box HTML5 authoring tools for App Studio, ePub and the leading cloud-based HTML5 solution for Smartphone and tablet experiences. It also supports OS X Lion 10.7 or later, and will support OS X Mavericks which is going to be launched by apple soon and it also supports Windows 7 and Windows 8. It also supports East Asian typography which includes phonetic text reading font sets, character grids and vertical story text. It provides pixel accurate and crystal clear previews of all page items, including imported graphics such as EPS, PDF, PSD, TIFF, AI, PNG, JPG, and it has support for HiDPI displays. The best reason for its durability is basically because QuarkXPress 10 is a very dominant page layout and design software package and at the same time it has an intuitive and versatile interface which helps you in combining elegant typography with pictures and colors. So, the end result is highly professional print and web layouts. So, it can be said that this QuarkXPress 10 has a huge number of small and large improvements that will open up additional project opportunities and make your work more efficient in all ways.
