Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.2 Review
Adobe has released the new Photoshop Lightroom 5.2 and Camera Raw 8.2. Lightroom 5.2 is software which not only expands but also refines the photo-editing tools. It is the first major update to the newer version of cataloging software and image editing. The main goal behind this release is to address bugs, provide lens profile support and also to provide additional camera raw support to the previous releases of Lightroom which was introduced earlier. The New Features available in Lightroom 5.2 are as follows:-
- To reduce the low-frequency color mottling artifacts a smoothness adjustment slider has been added to the Detail Panel under Color Noise Reduction..
- It has refinements to the Spot Healing Tool:
- New Feather control has been added
- The auto find source method now works much better for images with textured areas like foliage, bark and rocks.
- The added feature auto find source method now prefers source areas within the crop rectangle and makes it easier.
- To have more consistency across images and across different image sizes the Auto Exposure has been improved.
- The Smart Preview size has been updated to 2560 pixels on the long edge to redefine the photo quality.
- It also has refinements to the Local Adjustment Brush:
- Control-click (Mac) and Right Click (Windows) on a brush adjustment pin to bring up a context menu to delete or duplicate.
- Command+Option+Drag (Mac) and Control+Alt+Drag (Windows) on a brush adjustment pin to duplicate or clone that particular adjustment.
The list of newly added support for Tethered Capture in Lightroom 5.2 are Canon EOS 6D, Canon EOS Rebel T5i / EOS 700D / EOS Kiss X7i, Canon EOS Rebel SL1 / EOS 100D / EOS Kiss X7, Nikon D7100 and the list of new Camera Support available in Lightroom 5.2 are Sony NEX-5T, Canon EOS 70D, Canon PowerShot S120, Fujifilm FinePix HS22EXR, Casio Exilim EX-ZR800, Fujifilm FinePix HS35EXR, Fujifilm X-A1, Fujifilm FinePix S205EXR, Leica C (Typ 112), Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70, Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ72, Pentax K-50, Pentax Q7, Pentax K-500, Sony DSC-RX100 II, Fujifilm X-M1, Sony A3000 (ILCE-3000) and Canon PowerShot G16.
The various Bugs Corrected in Lightroom 5.2 are Import dialog remained blank for folders that contain PNG files with XMP sidecars, Slideshow Exporting process fails for time-lapse sequences, Output Sharpening and Noise Reduction were not applied to exported images that were resized to less than 1/3 of the original image size, Unable to export a Book this only occurred after a customer deleted a background photo, JPEG decoding produced a red colorcast, Catalog containing images processed with PV2003 were adding a post-crop vignette when catalog upgraded to Lightroom 5, Unable to scroll through photos when in Full screen mode , it happnes only occurs when more than 1 photo is selected, Metadata panel displayed incorrect information after modifying published photo and this occurred when metadata was changed after the photo was published, Crash when scrubbing Size slider with existing spot selected, Landscape crop not maintained on portrait oriented photos, By pressing the Reset button while holding the Shift key results in an internal error, All of the images on a Compact Flash card did not appear in the Import Dialogue, Soundtrack does not fade at the end of a slideshow, and The Esc key did not exit the slideshow after right clicking screen with mouse during slideshow playing, So, it can be sais that Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.2 is a impeccable upgrade to the earlier Lightroom which also refines and expands the photo-editing tools.
